What is Worship?

‘Worship’ is giving praise and love and respect to Jesus.
‘Worship’ is the word we use to describe what we do when we want to show God how much he is worth to us.  Sometimes this comes out in the songs we sing or our prayers, or even through painting pictures.  Though worship isn’t just about what we do at church, it’s about how we live.

A good example would be if David Beckham picked you to be on his team at sports day.  You might want to thank him by writing a letter, or go to see him in a game and sing songs about him in the terraces.  But that won’t mean too much to David Beckham if when he comes to sports day you’ve not put any training in, or you don’t give other players in your team the same chance Mr. Beckham gave you!

Worshipping God is exactly the same.  We could sing all the songs in the world but it wouldn’t mean anything to God if we didn’t treat others with the same love and compassion God showed to us.  God asks for our whole lives to be dedicated to showing him and others how much he means to us.
