Who is Jesus?

If you come to church, you’ll hear the name ‘Jesus’ mentioned loads and talked about in a special way.  That’s because Jesus is God’s Son.  At Christmas, we celebrate Jesus’ birthday – when he was born, like you and me through his mother, who was called Mary.  The simplest way to try and explain it is that God came to earth in a human body – Jesus!!

When he was here on earth, Jesus talked to lots of people, he did lots of miracles and helped people too.  Some people were his friends, other people were his enemies but he told them all about his Father who loved them and wanted to forgive them for all the wrong things that they did.  But Jesus’ enemies didn’t like what he was saying and doing, so they nailed him to a cross and he died.  But amazingly, Jesus didn’t stay dead – no, after 3 days he came back to life.  That’s what we celebrate at Easter.  He even went and spoke to his friends and told them to go out and tell people about him and God.   After this, he went up to heaven, which is where he is now.

But we can have Jesus as our friend today – just click here to find out how.
